destepta

busily bumbling
in a forest
an ogre
paused for a rest
on the trunk
below the nimble branch
which was travelpath
for a wandering caterpillar

she giggled
at the sight of him
and he grinned
in shame

the clouds played
a silly melody
while they danced

she spun her silk
in a comfortable home
talking idly
by the by

the ogre grabbed the
caterpillar and shouted
"come here!" gleefully

the caterpillar trembled
and shook between its
freightened tears and sobs

his stomach already full,
the ogre merely wanted
to chat a bit
with the clever thing

but when the rain fell
he lifted her toward
the limber wood arms

"dont you want me"
asked the caterpillar
"yes, but in way
you wouldnt enjoy"
replied the ogre

he placed the caterpillar
half in her cocoon back
on the delicate branch
where he had found her
wandering

as far as he walked,
he could still see
the transformation
coming
a successful metamorphosis
of the caterpillar
to butterly
the branch became
runway
the sky turned to
colored wings

she soared
he cried
